Container volumes are in fluid ounces, not dry ounces.
As a guideline, a 4 fl.oz. container will hold about 1/2 oz of herbs, 2 oz of a ground spice or pepper, 3 oz of a rub or spice mix (except leafy ones) or 5 oz of salt.
